Statutory Authority

The Department of Transportation was established by an act of Congress on October 15, 1966. The Department’s first official day of operation was April 1, 1967.

Secretary @PeteButtigieg, my friend and former Mayor, was in OKC to visit our @FAANews center, which is the single largest employment center for the FAA outside DC. His focus today was on air traffic controllers & all of the air traffic controllers are trained right here in OKC…

This morning, we were happy to welcome back @USDOT @SecretaryPete to DFW Airport for the groundbreaking of our southwest end-around taxiway (EAT) project!

FRA is on site responding to the BNSF derailment that happened overnight near Raymond, MN. We will continue to monitor and support the investigation there and ensure freight companies are held accountable for these events.

Little Rock was proud to welcome @USDOT @SecretaryPete to talk about airport safety yesterday.

While they were here, @USDOTFHWA officials also received an update on and tour of the 30 Crossing project.

FRA is on the ground after a BNSF train carrying ethanol derailed early this morning, leading to an evacuation in the area of Raymond, MN. At present no injuries or fatalities have been reported. We are tracking closely as more details emerge and will be involved in investigaton.
